چکیده

Diclofenac 2(2,6 dichloranilino) phenylacetic acid is a widely prescribed non-steroidal anti inflammatory drug. It is used to reduce pain and treat inflammation in some disorders like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondilytis, gout, dysmenorrhea, spondylarthritis etc., It acts by inhibiting the action of cycloxygenase enzymes COX-1 and COX-2 which are responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins. Apart from antiinflammatory property, Diclofenac also has powerful antibacterial potential. This study aims to assess the antibacterial effect of diclofenac against five pathogenic microorganisms Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Eschereschia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi. The Agar well diffusion method was adopted to assess the antibacterial activity. The inhibition of bacterial growth was studied taking test drug in three different concentrations 25μg/ml, 50μg/ml and 100μg/ml. The findings of the study indicated the inhibition of growth of bacteria.

Antibacterial activity of some actinomycetes isolated from soils of Alborz province, Iran

Screening of microorganisms for the production of novel antibiotics has been intensivelypursued for many years by scientists. Actinomycetes have the capability to synthesize manydifferent antibiotics. A total of 69 actinomycete isolates were recovered from soil samplescollected from Alborz Province. Selected colonies (rough, chalky) of actinomycetes werepurified. All screened isolates were iden...

Isolation and screening of antibacterial and enzyme producing marine actinobacteria to approach probiotics against some pathogenic vibrios in shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei

The application of new probiotics is a good strategy in the biological control of infectious diseases in aquaculture. Approximately 100 marine actinobacteria isolates were obtained from 10 sediment samples of shrimp farms. Heat treatment of sediment samples resulted in a selective reduction of the non actinobacterial heterotrophic microflora. Starch nitrate agar medium exhibited more efficacy t...
